Online registration for the CYA Winter Basketball Program began on September 13. The registration fee for grades 2-12 is $140.00 and for 1st grade is $110.00; the $140 (grades 2-12) or $110 price (grade 1) includes a $20 CYA admin fee, a $10 indoor capital improvement fee, and a $5.50 Fairfax County user fee. Travel players pay an additional $50 fee once selected in addition to the base $140 fee and must purchase their uniforms (3 pieces at $25 each). Beginning October 16th a $25 late charge is assessed on all registrations. For grades 1-8, participants must register by October 31st to ensure placement on a team (participants in grade 9-12 have until December 1).
CYA’s Winter season has both a travel and house program. The house program is open to all applicants in grades 1-12 regardless of skill level or place of residence. The travel program is open to boys and girls in grades 4-8 only and requires selection through a tryout process that takes place in the first two weeks of October (see the schedule on the News page). Travel teams practice twice a week for 90 minutes from mid-October through February and have games from Thanksgiving to early March. House teams practice for 60 minutes each week on weeknights and play games on weekends from early December through early March (11-12th graders only have a single pre-season practice then go straight to games only).
