Chantilly Youth Association is excited to introduce Carlos Orantes as the new Chairman of CYA Soccer! Carlos is taking over for Mark Abbott who has served the community in that role for many years. The CYA Soccer Chairman’s position is one of the most demanding volunteer role’s in all of CYA and we are grateful that Carlos has agreed to make such an enormous commitment to our community.
Professionally, Carlos has devoted his career to the drug development industry in order to help bring medicines to market. He is currently the President & CEO of a small business in the DC/Metro Area and also serves on the Board of Directors for Maryland’s Biotechnology Division of the Tech Council of Maryland. He graduated locally from Langley High School, earned a BS in Biology from the George Washington University, and an MBA from Old Dominion University.
Personally, Carlos is very involved with his community, in large part supporting the Chantilly Youth Association. It all started with being his oldest daughter’s soccer coach for several years and has evolved to other roles within CYA with two younger daughters in the soccer program. Roles include additional coaching at various age groups, Age Group Coordinator U8G & U9G, supporting the launch of the Emerging Talent Program, launching a new ODSL U9G travel team, serving on the Soccer Steering Committee, and most recently, Chairman of the Rules & Discipline Committee. Bottom line, Carlos’ experience, entrepreneurialism, energy, and enthusiasm position him well to furthering CYA’s soccer mission for our community.
Carlos has resided in Northern Virginia since 1985 and has called the Franklin Farm Neighborhood home since 1998 along with his wife, Cristina, their three daughters, Elizabeth, Carly, and Kristen and their two beagles, Daisy and Minnie.
