Our teams participate in the Northern Fairfax County Senior Babe Ruth League (NFC SrBRL). NFC Senior Babe Ruth League is a part of Virginia Babe Ruth District 7. Our NFC Senior Babe Ruth League is the natural progression for players graduating from the 13-15 Northern Fairfax Babe Ruth League.
The NFC Senior Babe Ruth League is comprised of teams of players from the Chantilly, Herndon, and Reston communities and includes players from the same geographical boundaries as the Northern Fairfax (13-15) Babe Ruth League. The NFC 16-18 Senior Babe Ruth League takes advantage of the Chantilly Youth Association’s administrative capabilities in order to facilitate the registration and organization of the league.
The Public High School Districts that are included in the NFC Senior Babe Ruth League geographical boundaries are Chantilly, Herndon, South Lakes, and portions of Westfield, Oakton and Fairfax. Many of the program’s players play at the high school level and some go on to become college athletes. The schools and their coaches have been very supportive of our program through the use of their facilities.
We conduct 2 seasons (Spring and Fall) for Senior Babe Ruth.
SPRING SEASON: In the Spring, many of our players will be participating in a spring sport at their high schools or on other baseball teams, but that does not preclude them from playing Senior Babe Ruth baseball. In fact we encourage players to play as much baseball as they can afford the time and resources. Our season starts in May near/after the completion of the spring high school seasons. High school players are welcome to play for Senior Babe Ruth teams after the completion of their high school season. Typically, the spring season completes by July 4th. Due to the short schedule, there can be 3 to 4 games in a week. All-star play follows the end of the regular season. All-stars play in the District 13 tournament to qualify for the State Tournament. Successful all-stars can compete through to the World Series which is typically held in August.
FALL SEASON: In the Fall, our season runs from September through the first week of November. Some players participate in fall high school sports/activities (football, cross county, golf, band) while playing fall baseball. Players that were participating at league age 15 in the spring, move up in the fall to play as rising 16s. This is a more instructional period with more time for practices. Typically there are 2 games per week during the fall season.
Our 16-18 division is played under regulation baseball rules. We promote the opportunity to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, fair play, high morality and democratic spirit which the participant has learned at the Babe Ruth 13-15 level. The primary objective of the 16-18 division is to provide a community-level program to promote the game of baseball and which can potentially give players an opportunity to participate in the post season all the way to the 16-18 World Series.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the field each season. If you have any questions or concerns about the coming season, please feel free to contact David Gould, League President and Commissioner of Northern Fairfax County Senior Babe Ruth at dbgould@starpower.net.
